2021 COLBY CREATIVES SHOWCASE
The 2021 Colby Creatives Showcase’s primary focus is to promote sustainable business and arts practices within society moving forward, as climate change and pollution continue to be a growing threat to humanity that demands action.
LUXURY & FAST FASHION
The 2021 Colby Creatives Showcase’s centerpiece, sustainable fashion brand Colline Deux Fleur, attempts to respond to growing environmental trends within the luxury and fast fashion industries. Fast fashion is terminology to describe a fashion style focused on trendy and cheap outfits designed to be worn for a short time, thrown out, and replaced by the next cheap trend. These materials are typically wasteful and low quality. Luxury fashion emphasizes exclusivity and high pricing. However, many of these methods of exclusivity involve incineration or destruction of perfectly good material, and unnecessary shipping practices to avoid and/or exploit tax loopholes.
Colline Deux Fleur’s Sustainable Practices
Colline Deux Fleur merges the haute couture and luxury fashion styles and incorporates them into the sustainable fashion sphere. All fabrics and materials are made from thrifted materials, overhead designer fabric, liquidation rack store items, sustainable textile manufacturers, and vegan fruit leathers. Additionally, Colline Deux Fleur covers all outgoing shipping via UPS’ carbon neutral option. This resultantly:
Removes textiles from ending up incinerated or in landfills
Drastically reduces additional wastewater
Removes additional microfiber ocean pollution
Reduces carbon emissions associated with textile decomposition or incineration
Lowers cost of landfill textile removal
Promotes sustainable and humane fashion practices with textiles and alternative leathers
Reduces carbon/greenhouse emissions associated with shipping
